Details
[Edit]Having only released a collection of early tracks before, New Religion marked the first time Cut.Rate.Box had to deal with a full-length in over ten years. The band's appeal, now fully surfaced, was in G. Wygonik and Clint Sand's similarities to Front Line Assembly, Depeche Mode, and Killing Joke. "Traummaschine" and "Restless" both excavate the electro heritage of early industrial music with sawing android beats and cluttered-up guitars. Most curiously, instead of taking the tempting road of feted death metal, the duo favored trebly samples, a calculated vocal approach, and sometimes, as in "Misery," attempts at a big synth pop hook. Their only opponents would be purists crying Machines of Loving Grace industrial-lite.
