Kane brings to mind such secular troubadours as Ben Harper and Mason Jennings with his earnest tenor and feel for insistent acoustic rhythms. He has a knack for writing worship tunes in the form of personal confessions, infusing songs like “Beautiful Mess,” “Inheritance” and the title number with a palpable longing. Just as appealing are his tunes dealing with romantic relationships from a faith-based perspective — “Deeper” is an especially sensitive look at the thrills and perils of falling in love.
