[Edit]Danny Wright records two different kinds of music. On his highly successful Black and White series he offers nostalgic piano renditions of show tunes, popular classical pieces, and movie themes. Shadows is his latest release in his other style — original tunes that offset his romantic piano balladry with Synclavier orchestrations. Wright's compositions lean heavily on the classical music tradition as he seeks to portray in sound "Shadows of your soul and Shadows of a new world to come." While "Song for Lea" picks up the pace, and while dramatic crescendos and flourishes are liberally sprinkled throughout Shadows, this is primarily an album of tender piano ballads, caressed by synthesized violins, cellos, flutes, and oboes. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi
