Details
[Edit]French laptop quartet DAT Politics developed a tradition for hurling strange sounds and fractured melodies at listeners on this, their first album from 1999. Initially pressed in a limited-edition run of 500 on the group's own Skipp label, Tracto Flirt was reissued on Tigerbeat6 four years later, with two bonus tracks. These untitled tracks that hover around the three-minute mark often feature abrasive textures, but naïve synth pop songs with charming features are often on the verge of breaking out. See especially the third track, which, with its pittering percussion pads, could almost double as a glitch remix of Soft Cell's "Memorabilia." Releases originally pressed in small quantities regularly make for little more than curiosities, but those who have enjoyed the group's later releases will find plenty to adore here.
