Details
[Edit]In 2004 former Kinks guitarist Dave Davies suffered a severe stroke that took him out of circulation for years, but this new lease on life has focused his work. Rippin’ Up Time is a reflective yet aggressive album. Recorded primarily in six weeks during the summer of 2014 in Los Angeles with producer David Nolte, the album retains that rough quality that made The Kinks special. “King of Karaoke” quotes “Sunny Afternoon.” “Front Room” recalls the days when brothers Ray and Dave would practice at home and throws in a touch of “You Really Got Me.” “In the Old Days” turned into a collaboration with Dave’s son Russ.
