[Edit]Kelly David's Broken Voyage is one of the best debut albums — regardless of genre — ever. In ambient music circles, it is clearly among the Top 10 debuts of all time. This CD chronicles the trials, tribulations and dangers of the ancient mariner — specifically during journeys to the South Pacific. David builds ominous tribal ambient atmospheres with dark and sinister overtones. Overt rhythms keep the soundscape moving as subtle melodies weave in and out seamlessly. A deep drone surrounds the percussion and reminds listeners that this is about the perils of oceanic travel in the 18th and 19th centuries. David also had the good sense to enlist the aid of Steve Roach for the final mixing and Roger King for the final mastering. This amazing CD will appeal to fans of Terra Amphibia, Inlakesh, Ma Ja Le, TUU, and Biff Johnson.
