Celtic supergroup De Dannan have hosted a breathtaking list of band members and guest musicians throughout their 25-year career, including Frankie Gavin, Mary Black, Tommy Fleming, Maura O'Connell, Bill Whelan, and Dolores Keane, among others. The band's long and storied history is well-represented on How the West Was Won, a two-CD set of their greatest hits since their inception in 1976. The band has always skated the fine line between traditional Irish folk songs and contemporary Celtic music, warmly embracing the first, and helping to shape the second. The music ranges from energetic jigs and reels, to melodic ballads and ethereal love songs, all of which contain the same silver thread connecting them to their traditional roots.
