Whether it was her church-choir experience or an innate capacity for pop-rock singing, Sharp tears up just about everything she gets her hands on. That ranges from her hits (“Mashed Potato Time,” “Ride!,” “Do the Bird”) to hidden gems like “Deep Dark Secret” (a big hunk of pre-soul helmed by Four Seasons producer Bob Crewe) and otherwise standard girl-group fare like “Where Did I Go Wrong” and “Willyam, Willyam” (where she busts a reticent fiancé: “Are you just a turkey in the straw, boy?/Don’t you want to have a mother-in-law?”). Tough Gal.
