Deedrah's 2001 album Reload explores a range of hypnotic trance sounds with hints of the psychedelica of previous Dado albums to up-tempo progressive techno similar to John Digweed or Paul Van Dyk. The album begins with the deceptively slow melodic title track that kicks the groove into high gear after less than a minute. The breakneck pace continues with sophisticated detours into moody backroads. The 73-minute disc shares the same frenetic, fast-paced feel exhibited in Run Lola Run. The evocative songs range from the ethereal "Purple Unicorn" to the gate-crashing "Land of Freedom (2001 Mix)" to the hypnotic "Fireball." Reload combines pinches of noir stylishness and high beats per minute into a sublime, nocturnal trip. This uplifting, melodic trance disc is an expertly arranged, pleasurable listen throughout.
