[Edit]Deus Ex Machina's second album was recorded in better conditions than the first, but the clean studio treatments actually work against the band. The group can easily switch from light contemplation to head-banging complexity, but the changes don't work when the mixing makes it all sound the same. Highlights are Alberto Piras' emphatic vocals (in Latin!) and new drummer Claudio Trotta, whose four-limbed flailing keeps things interesting.
