Details
[Edit]Delicious girl-fronted pop/rock songs from Vancouver, British Columbia, dominate the ten songs on Get On. With the exception of one tune ("The Tag Is It"), all these tunes on the band's sophomore release are sung by singer and guitarist Natasha Thirsk. Her sweet vocals are a welcome relief to the many male vocalists who have tried to pull of a similar sound and failed miserably. The Dirtmitts are able to take the power pop sound and infuse it with vocals that match the infectious drive of the music and the amped-up guitar sound being pumped into every tune. However, strong, brisk pop music isn't the only thing up their respective sleeves, as the closer on the album, "Strange," is a more reflective tune, reminiscent of a slower, ballad-like tune coming out of the Seattle scene circa 1995. As most slow songs tend to do, it makes for a good finale to the album, capping off a strong showing from this foursome and showing remarkable improvement as well as demonstrating the respect that more Canadian bands are certainly due.
