Details
[Edit]Because all of Dizzy Gillespie's recordings from the 1946-49 period for Victor are already available on a definitive two-CD set, this single disc sampler is rather pointless except possibly for beginners. There are 17 selections taken from this period and some of the classics (such as "Manteca") are actually missing from this reissue. There are some great moments including three of the four numbers from a notable small-group date in 1946 and such tunes as "Two Bass Hit," "Good Bait" and "Hey Pete! Le's Eat More Meat" but this CD can be safely passed by in favor of the earlier release.
