Details
[Edit]A longstanding DJ from Atlanta, Drama is known mostly for his concert work with T.I. and his countless mixtapes. Quality Street Music is his fourth official album, following two volumes of Gangsta Grillz and last year's Third Power. Since he doesn't produce the songs (or scratch on them, or blend them), it's basically just a compilation featuring some of his favorite artists. Whereas his earlier releases were pretty much exclusively Southern trap-rap anthems, Drama mixes things up more here, with surprising contributions from Common and Kendrick Lamar ("My Way") and hipster favorites Kid Ink, ScHoolboy Q, and Childish Gambino ("Same Ol' Story"), plus Odd Future honcho Tyler, The Creator ("I'ma Hata" with Waka Flocka Flame). The VIP-studded guest list also includes Drake, Wiz Khalifa, and Wale, plus traditional Southern icons like Gucci Mane, Meek Mill, Young Jeezy, T.I., and Ludacris. With so many features, it's not the most cohesive project, but as a big-name mixtape it definitely works. Check out the mellow "Never Die" (with Jadakiss, Cee-Lo, and Nipsey Hustle) and the sweeping, big-baller vibe of "Clouds" featuring Rick Ross, Pusha T, and Curren$y.
