[Edit]It's hard to pinpoint where Dolly Parton's most creative and successful moments lie, and there are plenty of options to choose from: her early duets with Porter Wagoner, her later commercial success in the pop crossover world, or her duets with Kenny Rogers, just to name a few avenues Parton has covered. This Legacy collection focuses on the softer side of Dolly, including some of her best known moments like "I Will Always Love You," "Islands in the Stream," and "Here You Come Again." The digital remastering on Love Songs is superb and Parton sounds better than a voice has a right to on many occasions, including "Please Don't Stop Loving Me," included here to represent her earliest collaborations with Wagoner. It's not an essential or thorough best-of collection by any stretch, as it's impossible to narrow that down to one disc. But for those looking for her most well-known ballads, this is an accommodating disc that's an enjoyable listen from start to finish.
