Details
[Edit]Essentially an expanded edition of the 1956 full-length Confidencias de Dóris Monteiro com Musicas de Fernando Cesar with four additional cuts culled from subsequent 78-rpm releases, Vento Soprando captures Dóris Monteiro somewhere between conventional romantic pop and the sunkissed sensibilities of bossa nova, complete with a sophistication and mood that vaults the set into the upper echelon of the singer's discography. Radamés Gnattali and Renato de Oliveira's lush arrangements couch Monteiro in a series of ethereal contexts that contrast beautifully with the simple humanity of her performances, while the insistent rhythms of songs like the opening "Nem Sol Nem Paz Nem Você" and "Quando as Folhem Cairem" nevertheless push her in bold new directions, anticipating the evolution her music would undergo in the decade to follow. Intoxicating.
