Douglas Spotted Eagle is a Native American musician, dancer, and author dedicated to the preservation of the arts and culture of the Plains Indians. On his debut release he combines the poignant sound of the Native American flute, with nature sounds, drumming, synthesizer atmospherics, with electronic sound effects (by collaborator Dan James), and on one track, chanting. Wind howls and thunder growls, horses gallop and water flows, crickets chirp and birds sing, while the instruments paint their pictures of the sanctity of all life and the communion of man with nature. Falling somewhere between the simple purity of Carlos Nakai and the elaborate audio theatrics of Dik Darnell, Sacred Feelings is a welcome introduction to the world of Douglas Spotted Eagle. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi
