Details
[Edit]The Droogs were among the first of the “garage-rock revivalists,” forming in the early ‘70s and keeping the raw, rough sound of the ‘60s alive with singles and appearances on compilation albums. It wasn’t until 1984 that the band released a nearly flawless debut album, Stone Cold World. Subsequent albums followed, but a series of label disasters and other promotional snafus practically guaranteed the band’s obscurity. The band, however, has enjoyed better success in Europe. Ironic, considering these tunes are steeped in American beat group aggression. “Change Is Gonna Come,” “Set My Love On You,” “Stone Cold World,” “Mr. Right” and “Only Game In Town “ represent some of the most uncompromising and powerful hard rock of the past few decades, while the R.E.M. jangle of “Webster Field” and the haunted Elizabethan ballad “For These Remaining Days” prove the band could handle the gentler material with equal ease. With any justice, these folks would be well known everywhere.
