[Edit]The trumpet-playing (and youngest) member of the talented Eubanks trio of jazz-musician brothers, Duane Eubanks has a long list of credits. Yet Things is only his fourth album as a leader since his 1999 debut. He’s joined here by longtime jazz comrades in arms Abraham Burton (sax), Marc Cary (piano), Dezron Douglas (bass), and Eric McPherson (drums) for a set of knotty, straight-ahead tunes with his warm, even-tempered tone as the focal point, whether it's in a searching solo or embedded in the songs’ melodies and harmonies. Standout tracks include “Purple Blue and Red,” “As Is,” and “Beer and Water.”
