Details
[Edit]One of the best singers to emerge from the neo-soul movement, Dwele has been putting out exemplary modern R&B music since the turn of the millennium, when he first sold his self-released demo/debut, The Rize, from trunks in his native Detroit. Since then, he's released several high-quality albums (including Subject, Sketches of a Man, and W.ants W.orld W.omen) and lent his ultra-smooth pipes to countless rap records, from artists like Slum Village, Bahamadia, Black Milk, DJ Quik, Pharoahe Monch, Common, and Kanye West. Greater Than One is his fifth album and arguably his best work to date; it's an immensely listenable mix of heartfelt love jams with a noticeable '80s influence, especially on the synth-driven numbers "This Love," "Special," and "Patrick Ronald." In addition to providing top-shelf vocals, he writes every song and plays drums, keyboards, and horns throughout, proving himself a jack-of-all-trades that few can match. Other highlights include "What Profit" and "Love Triangle."
