On their third and final album, Dzyan refined their sound even further into improvisation and exotic sounds. Electric Silence offers other-worldly music of incredible beauty and strangeness, influenced by the music of Asia but taking it into far more original realms. This is in no way some ethno-new age wankery, but just the opposite, with music as wild and freeform as Sun City Girls' avant-rock ethno-improvisations from a decade or two later. Multi-instrumentalists Marron and Karwatky experiment with sitar, saz, tambura, Mellotron, double bass, and an invented instrument called a "super string," which makes this intense "sproing" noise, while Giger holds it together with his fantastic drumming. From the weird opium-den trance-soundtrack of "Khali" to the more funky "For Earthly Thinking," to the even wilder tracks like "The Road Not Taken," Dzyan crafted one of the finest and most unique works of the Krautrock era.
