One of Ebi's most successful albums, 2006's Hasrate Parvaz (Begrudging Flight) is a result of another collaboration with Iraj Janati Ataee, who has participated in almost all of Ebi's efforts. The album was composed and arranged by Schubert Avakian and the lyrics are written by Zoya Zakarian and Persian poet Iraj Janati Ataee. It was released by Avang Music Co.. There are many themes and moods in the album. The album opens with a Latin-inspired ballad "Sedaam Kardi" (You Called Me) and ends with a sociopolitical song titled "Man Ageh Khoda Boodam..." (If I Were God...). Another song with a sociopolitical bent is "Begoo Areh, Begoo Na" with lyrics by Janati. "Man Ageh Khoda Boodam...," originally performed by Bijan Arya, is a cry against injustices and tragedies all over the world, specifically the disaster of the Bam earthquake. The title of the album is derived from another ballad, "Vaghti To Nisti" (When You Are Not Here). Hasrate Parvaz also includes a rock song called "Banooyeh Khaavari," which is basically a feminist song about women's rights. With all these different aspects in music and concept, the record still remains solid as a result of its perfect arrangement. The album is a good representative of Ebi's sound but not an adventurous effort. It is possible to find counterparts for some of the songs throughout Ebi's entire catalog. "Hannah Khanoom," for example, is one of them — with a rhythm that some musicians believe is distinctly Persian. It reminds listeners of the legendary Persian songs "Khannom Gol" and "Medad e Rangi."
