One of Jamaica's longest-lasting reggae icons, Eek A Mouse began recording back in the late ‘70s, started releasing his albums in the States in the mid-‘80s, and scored a deal with Island Records (who brought Bob Marley to America) in 1989. Though he dropped only two albums in the ‘90s, he was increasingly busy in the ‘00s, with several excellent releases, including Eek-A-Speeka and the Ganja Smuggling compilation. On Eekziled, he treats fans to a brand-new collection of mellow roots jams, bursting with bass-heavy riddims, mellow beats, and charismatic storytelling, spiced up with plenty of stony effects and over-dubbed vocals. Less about crazy partying and more focused on real life reflections, he gives us 17 great tracks here, with standouts like "House of Ill Repute," "Jail Bird Can't Fly," "Spread Your Wings And Fly," and "Rudebwoy Fi Life."
