[Edit]

Emmylou Harris’ Wrecking Ball, produced by Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan), was a groundbreaking album that featured epic reinterpretations of songs by Bob Dylan (“Every Grain of Sand”), Lucinda Williams (“Sweet Old World”), Jimi Hendrix (“May This Be Love”), and Steve Earle (“Goodbye”). In 2014, the album has been remastered and issued with a bonus collection of outtakes from the sessions that include stirring performances of Richard Thompson’s “How Will I Ever Be Simple Again” and Leonard Cohen’s “Stranger Song," plus alternate versions of Hendrix’s “May This Be Love,” Lanois’ “Where Will I Be," and Julie Miller’s “All My Tears” among the highlights. Many of the alternate versions are without Lanois’ studio haze and atmospheric electronics, pushing Harris further into the spotlight; for many fans, that's more the point of an Emmylou Harris album. This deluxe edition lets fans have it both ways.
