Sleeping Beneath the Ashes of Creation

As metallic hardcore emerged in the early '00s as the latest hot musical style to slowly help erase teen pop from music fans' minds, more groups from outside America have strode forth with rightful claims to bear the title "the rising stars" of the scene. While there are many deserving musicians, a small hardcore/metal label from Germany named Lifeforce consistently releases outstanding musical achievements from such mesmerizing young groups as Caliban and Between the Buried and Me. Now emerging from Lifeforce's billowing cloak is Endthisday, a five-member collective that ruthlessly hammers out nine crushing metalcore tracks on its impressive debut, Sleeping Beneath the Ashes of Creation. This explosive debut captures the band doing what it does best, delivering some sensational scorchers like "Killing in the Month of July" and "Behind the Veil of Tears" that flawlessly execute Euro-metal guitar wails with a blistering hardcore assault. Endthisday steps forth and lays the metal thick here, never once easing off from the band's ravenous attack on the listener's cranium. While nothing screams individuality here, Endthisday does succeed at turning forth a solid debut that never disappoints and can easily fit alongside Darkest Hour and At the Gates. ~ Jason D.
