Eric Church combines Bruce Springsteen-sized arena rock ambitions with a Hank Williams, Jr. next-generation outlaw country vibe, with enough contemporary pop-country veneer to place hits at country radio, and he loves stretching Nashville's musical boundaries a bit, a balancing act that, when he pulls it off, makes him an extremely intriguing artist. This four-disc set combines his first four albums, 2006's Sinners Like Me, 2009's Carolina, 2011's Chief, and the live Caught in the Act from 2013, in a single package, all of which set the stage for his much anticipated fourth studio album, The Outsiders, which appeared early in 2014.
