Details
[Edit]The four albums Fairport Convention released in 1969 and 1970 are cornerstones of the U.K. folk-rock movement, and this concise collection cherry-picks some of the best tunes from each, along with Fairport frontwoman Sandy Denny's signature solo song "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" and a non-LP single (the hymnlike "Now Be Thankful"). With Denny's soulful pipes and wunderkind Richard Thompson's fluid-but-forceful guitar lines leading the way, the band added a rock edge to traditional folk songs like "Matty Groves" and contemporary folk tunes like Bob Dylan's "Percy's Song."
