Fátima Guedes is a proponent of the sincere acoustic samba tradition in Brazil. Her work is devoid of commercial exploitation, constituting always a good bet. Her strong points are her well-played violão and her solid compositions, both on the melodic/harmonic side and on the lyrics as well. She also sings fairly well. In this record she sings her own compositions and works by the renowned samba/choro creators Moacyr Luz, Aldir Blanc, and Guinga, also delivering a proper samba rendition for Lenine's hit "O Dia Em Que Faremos Contato." The dynamics range from longing, melancholic voice/violão or string section backed songs, stylized reggaes, to hard-swinging sambas and cocos, with enough room for a beautiful trombone de gafieira introduction/solo in her "Lua Brasileira." The band's members and other musicians are among the best session players in Brazil.
