Details
[Edit]Favez may be from Lausanne, Switzerland, but they sound like they are fairly familiar with American pop culture. They are also very familiar with rock and how to play it. On this album, they display time and time again their penchant for strong melodies, carbon-burning riffs, and impressive dynamics. The album kicks off with a tribute to nostalgia and old residences, with a nod to the famous "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" painting. Each song sounds like a buildup to the explosive combination of tunes in the middle of album, "Chasing Honesty," "Son of Steve McQueen," "I Brake for No One," "Come On, Give Me a Smile." The album concludes with the dramatic "Live From the Kilby Court" (not a live recording), the tenacious "Memories of the Ones We Hate the Most," and the sweet "Troubled Life Blues," which comes complete with a five-second harmonica solo. ~ Kevin S.
