Sticking to a selection of songs that is traditional in approach, but are not played frequently ("John Hardy Was a Desperate Little Man," "Pick Along," "Spanish Two-Step"), Flatt & Scruggs and Watson play with a startling fluidity — these instrumentals are so rich and skillful that vocals would have been superfluous.
