In 1970, Frankie Laine left ABC Records and signed with Amos Records, for which he recorded two albums, 1970's rerecording of his biggest hits, Frankie Laine's Greatest Hits (Amos 7009) and a 1971 album of new songs, Brand New Day (Amos 7013). This CD compiles tracks from those two albums. Laine doesn't try to copy his hits, opting for new arrangements and noticeably different vocal interpretations of songs like "That Lucky Old Sun" and "Jezebel." Among the new tunes, "Proud Mary" and "Put Your Hand in The Hand" are particularly suited to his bravura approach. But this is minor work from the singer.
