[Edit]

While he was best known as a country singer and for his Spanish-language recordings, Freddy Fender was a major rock & roll fan who in the '50s was known as "El Bebop Kid" for the frantic rock singles he cut for small Texas border town labels. This collection of material from the latter days of Fender's career finds him covering a handful of rock, pop, and R&B classics, with his Texas Tornados bandmate (and fellow Texas rock and country legend) Doug Sahm contributing guest vocals on a few cuts. Selections include "You Send Me," "Little Bitty Pretty One," "She's About a Mover," "Hi Heel Sneakers," "Love Me Tender," and more.
