Fuxa's first proper full-length (Three Field Rotation was basically just a compilation of EP tracks), Very Well Organized is an ocean apart from their debut. Gone are the fuzzy amateurishness and the deliberate obstinance of "First Abductions" and "100 White Envelopes," replaced by a subtler, more committed exploration of vintage analog's capacity for warmth. The group have been quoted as wanting to produce happy music in the face of the American indie underground's premium on po-faced white-boy depression, and Organized is their strongest bid for that to date. The Hammond is at the center of many of the tracks here, the result being a kind of ambient church music as goofy and unpretentious as it is challenging and hypnotic.
