Precedent

Another hourlong blast of crunchy IDM with discombobulated melodies and fragments/shards of noise, owing heavy debts to both Autechre and Aphex Twin. And once again we have unpronounceable, vowel-phobic track titles. Who needs it? Well, it's done well enough here to appeal to those with a rapacious appetite for this kind of thing — not a different situation compared to a garage band junkie who can't get enough three-chord raunch with the words "baby" and "girl" used to mind-numbing extent. A handful of tracks, typically the ones with relatively linear rhythms and simple/frozen melodies, come close to rivaling the better moments off Claro Intelecto's Neurofibro, so it's a shame that the album (also released on Manchester's Ai) didn't receive nearly the same amount of attention.
