Details
[Edit]Alto and guitar duets are not exactly common, making this set by Gary Bartz (who doubles on soprano) and guitarist Peter Leitch a special event. The duo really stretches out, performing a trio of two-song medleys that clock in over 15 minutes apiece (with "The Touch of Your Lips" and "But Not for Me" being nearly 21 and a half minutes) plus briefer versions of Leitch's "Some Other Samba" and Bartz's "Uncle Bubba." The two musicians play solo sections but mostly interact with each other, getting adventurous in spots (the format itself is adventurous) yet always keeping the melodies in mind. This is a CD full of sparks and subtle surprises that rewards repeated listenings.
