[Edit]The most interesting aspect to this fine straightahead set (which occasionally utilizes Latin rhythms) is that it gives Eric Marienthal (best-known for his association with Chick Corea's Elektric Band) a very rare opportunity to shot off his bop chops. Altoist Marienthal is equally effective on soprano and flute during the two standards and nine Brunotte originals. Brunotte keeps up with Marienthal, his keyboard work is colorful and singer Lucia Newell is fine on two selections. This small-label release is worth searching for.
