Details
[Edit]Like Firm labelmate André Kraml, Geiger released a pair of EPs in 2004 that could be combined and treated as a cohesive album. And, much like most of the other producers on the label, Geiger continues to blur the line between organic dance music made with traditional instrumentation and programming-driven productions. This release is formatted like its predecessor, with the lead-off track nudging out four others in terms of quality, yet nothing is disposable. "The Dude" is another Firm curveball, not far in spirit and tone from mid-'70s Boz Scaggs or Little River Band, with some eerie post-punk keyboards in place of electric piano (Phoenix, eat your hearts out). "Tribute" is stranger still, a soft-funk cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze." The sleeve photo here shows a photographer, presumably the one who snapped the mom, kids, and family pet shown on Made in Home #1.
