Details
[Edit]Concert harpist Georgia Kelly is at home with both classical music and her improvised spiritual works such as Seapeace and Tarashanti. Here, she is joined by violinist Steve Kindler for a gentle presentation of French impressionist favorites by Gabriel Faure, Eric Satie, Claude Debussy, and Arthur Honegger. The two originals, Kelly's "Giverny" and Kindler's "Gymnopedie Pour l'Enfant Endormi," blend seamlessly with the lush but delicate romanticism. Classical purists will notice augmentation of the sound, and some arrangements have tasteful synthesizer orchestrations. The two have definitely made these pieces their own, and the album offers a moving and intimate experience rather than a chamber concert. Dramatic and mystical is the arrangement of Debussy's The Sunken Cathedral, which rumbles with antiquity, yet sparkles like sun reflecting through the waves.
