Where her debut album, Seapeace, captured the essence of gentle waves, Tarashanti is the Sanskrit word for "starpeace." Kelly's harp solo on the title piece sets a meditative mood with the bass notes emulating the drone of the Indian tamboura. Glissandi then seem to paint fields of brilliant stars above; perhaps Aquarius is pouring his water across the Milky Way. When Kelly picks up the pace, a galaxy of shooting stars seems to appear. One comforting and hypnotic section repeats a simple theme, but played in an oriental scale. Flutist Richard Hardy joins Kelly on the second half of the album, "Marupavana," which is Sanskrit for "purifying wind of the desert." The deep section of this piece is the languid duet that has the cadence and sway of the movement of a camel.
