Despite its somewhat forced humor and their lack of fresh ideas, Ghoti Hook makes their second album Banana Man sound energetic. Ghoti Hook plays the kind of hook-heavy pop-punk that brought Green Day into the Top 100 — the only difference is, Ghoti Hook doesn't always write memorable hooks. Nevertheless, that isn't a deadly flaw, since the group has a tight, kientic sound that makes up for their lack of originality or strong songs, which in turn makes Banana Man a sporadically enjoyable record.
