[Edit]The group's debut album sounds like the more reflective moments of Lou Reed's early/mid-'70s material, with a high "haunt count" and enough emotional depth so as to evoke cinematic images — and the really quiet moments call to mind Syd Barrett. From the stark minimalism of "Tempest" to the more lyrical work around it, the effect on the listener ranges from momentary disorientation to bracing excitement, but it's all really pretty, too, if sometimes stark and bare.
