Giorgia's long-awaited first album of new material since 2007's Stonata took the Italian airwaves by storm with its leadoff single, "Il Mio Giorno Migliore," one of the big hits of summer 2011. It was soon followed by "È l'Amore Che Conta," written by Busbee, a proven hitmaker for the likes of Katy Perry, Timbaland, and Anastacia (incidentally, the English version of the song, titled "Hostage," appears only as a digital bonus track). Both tracks surprised Giorgia's fans, as they found the singer dabbling in the commercially fashionable electro-dance genre. The rest of the album, however, remains closer to her familiar mixture of Italian balladry and eclectic pop. While, as usual, Giorgia wrote the bulk of the material, Dietro le Apparenze features a few high-profile collaborations. Besides Busbee's contribution, Marina Rei penned "Passerà l'Estate," and both Eros Ramazzotti and Jovanotti appear as guests on their own songs, "Inevitabile" and "Tu Mi Porti Su," respectively.
