[Edit]The alternative supergroup Githead—featuring Wire’s Colin Newman, Minimal Compact’s Malka Spigel and Max Franken, and Scanner’s Robin Rimbaud—return after a five-year hiatus with a modest, spellbinding album that refuses to break from its subdued character, relying heavily on warm basslines and atmospheric guitars. “Bringing the Sea to the City” is a masterful blend of the poetic and the elliptical, floating on a low-key melody that soothes as it reminds listeners of the gentler sides of the ‘80s. “To Somewhere” follows with an extended instrumental that surprisingly evolves into a haunting vocal piece. All material was written in the studio.
