This Time It's Globo

This Time It's Globo... is an ambitious work of cross-genre pollinization, though it recycles a few too many clichéd sounds for its own good. The opener "Onward" begins as a big-beat track but gradually turns to an odd pastiche of easy listening and techno before attempting to summon the acid-house glory of Primal Scream circa Screamadelica. The track sums up Globo's hodgepodge of techno, dub, trip-hop, and acid-house; it's a sound that hits all the right notes but never really accomplishes much in the way of new ideas or sounds. The eccentric vocal samples on "Globo Conspiracy" and "Autosleeper" make for a bit of diverting listening, but too often Globo simply goes through the motions instead of making solid dance music.
