[Edit]Goons of Doom are a band with no business really existing. They came into existence only because professional surfer Ozzie Wright decided to make a fictional movie about surfers who play in a band. He, his wife, and three friends scraped together some instruments that they didn't know how to play and, when the movie was done, they continued not being able to play them — only now for live audiences. Eventually they acquired chops sufficient to justify gigs in Hollywood and Tokyo, and produced this surprisingly enjoyable five-song, 20-minute debut EP. The only reason it lasts 20 minutes is that "Long Haircut," the final number, lasts more than ten. The others are brief, raw, and messy; one was recorded live. The best of the lot is "That One," on which female singer Bang Bang Bunny Fang takes over from her husband on lead vocals, resulting in a sound that can best be described as Crass with a sense of humor. Not bad.
