He has performed at Toronto's venerable Massey Hall more than any other artist (150 times as of 2011), and this collection celebrates both Lightfoot's and the Hall's longevity. Collected from soundboard tapes recorded at Lightfoot concerts between 1998 and 2001, All Live is the purest look yet at Lightfoot's peerless talents. Nothing has been touched up; nothing has been remixed. These are the performances as they were heard in the esteemed Hall. Lightfoot's in fine voice, and the track selection is a healthy mix from his entire catalog, from "Early Morning Rain" and obvious hits such as "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," "Canadian Railroad Trilogy," and "Sundown." Lesser-known tunes like "Fine as Fine Can Be" and "Song for a Winter's Night" also appear. Lightfoot's a master, and his rich sense of melody matched with his golden, honeyed vocal timbre makes anything he sings worth hearing.
