Normally, Group Du Jour does a lot of singing, but here is an all instrumental sampler of their work. This cassette features all their trademarks. Daniel Crommie's various flutes, synths and African-style drum machine rhythms are here. So is Bo Parker's acoustic tuned percussion and backing vocals and Paul Parker's ripping guitar and occasional bass. When listened to end-over-end, it becomes a little difficult to distinguish one song from another. However, the compositions are strong and they all play up a storm. Particularly memorable are the tape effects and surreal jews-harp patch on "Radio Uganda." The spacey guitar and flute interplay on "Running From The River", also the fretless bass and xylimba solo on "Atlas Fear". This album contains five new compositions. Three tracks are from 1987's Wonderful Vision and one from "Waiting for the Sky to Fall". New Weave has a wonderful catalog of all their releases and I highly recommend getting it. New Weave, P.O.
