Details
[Edit]Ever since their inception, Heart have balanced between folk-druid-acoustic numbers and rattling hard rockers. Their obvious debts to Led Zeppelin have been openly acknowledged (listen to levee-breaking crunch of "Mashallah") and Ann Wilson's fearless vocal pipes enable Heart to be heard over the competition at every turn. Working with producer/ programmer Ben Mink, who also manned controls for their previous studio album, Red Velvet Car, the Wilson sisters deliver on their reputation. Tracks such as "Rock Deep (Vancouver)" and "Walkin' Good," with special guest Sarah McLachlan, explore their homespun charm, while the technologically advanced "Million Miles" allows Ann to push forth to the top of her range for wrenching drama. Ann and Nancy's harmonies turn "Pennsylvania" from an ethereal ballad into a heavenly choir piece. "Corduroy Road" ends things with another nod to Zeppelin, with its "Kashmir" blend of tension and release.
