Details
[Edit]Here Kitty Kitty plays Ramones-styled punk rock with the nice melodies of dual female vocals, and there's the occasional angsty tune of grrl punk à la the Muffs. The songs take on topics from girls being used by guys to the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Much of the album sounds similar (if a band plays Ramones-styled punk, there's not gonna be too much variation), but since the vocals are so dominant on the album, the contribution from each girl (and occasionally, the one guy too) on the vocal end mixes things up enough to keep things from growing too monotonous. There's the dry delivery on tracks like "Walk of Shame," and on the other side of the coin are the strong, energetic vocals making up "Kiss Me Deadly." Not entirely an original sound or even variance of a style, but Here Kitty Kitty makes a pleasant album of 12 songs for fans of the Ramones, Bikini Kill, and riot grrrl material. These are tunes for the warm, sunny, weekend afternoons when the top is down on the convertible.
