On the Control EP, their first outing for major label Warner Bros., the Indecent attempt to revive the grungy sounds of Seattle. The bandmembers are young enough to have celebrated their eighth birthdays the same year that Soundgarden called it quits and Layne Staley died, raising the question: Can grunge really be made by people who weren't alive at the same time as Kurt Cobain? The answer is...kind of. While the Indecent do a good job re-creating a more polished version of the languid, heavy rock that dominated the world in the '90s, they don't quite capture the angst and feelings of disenfranchisement that made the genre such a cathartic and visceral part of a generation. Fortunately, the Indecent definitely show a lot of promise, and the infectious drawl of the chorus on "Here Comes Another" makes for an earworm that's hard to get rid of, making Control a good opening salvo from a band that has a lot of potential.
