[Edit]Bali is a CD about, well, the island of Bali, "an island where the gods live, an island of refined culture." Jalan Jalan performs these ambient soundscapes on traditional gamelan instruments: the gender (bronze keyboard) and the gong. Each of these instruments has several varieties. They augment the atmospheres with bamboo pipes and drums. The effect is extremely psychoactive, the textures and timbres are very organic, and the atmospheres are mood altering. This CD has all the style and charm of electronic minimalism. It will appeal to fans of Klaus Wiese, Riley Lee, Al Gromer Khan, and Jim Cole.
